Weeki Wachi Springs State Park
Canoe or Kayak down beautiful Weeki Wachi Springs with
its’ crystal clear blue water that flow naturally fast enough that you don’t
even have to paddle. There is a wonderful ecosystem that can be observed while
enjoying this trip.
Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park
Hike down the Devil’s Millhopper. This bowl shaped cavity
in the Earth is 120’ deep and over 500’ wide. It is a naturally occurring lime
rock sink hole that has been visited by the curious since the early 1880’s. Hike
down to the bottom of this wonderful natural concavity to experience a miniature
rain forest. Even when Florida experiences drought and heat, this mini-ecosystem
continues to thrive.
Homosassa Springs State Wildlife Park
Homosassa Springs offers a full day of activities and fun.
Many of the wildlife species that are natural to Florida can be found here.
Experience Barn Owls, Great Horned Owls, Florida Barred Owls; a wide variety of
song birds, wading birds and birds or prey; cougars, bobcats, alligators,
manatee’s and lots more. This is one of the most preferred and enjoyable trips.
Rails to Trails
Part of this trail is accessible only a short distance
from the ranch. This is an excellent area for bird watching, hiking and biking.
Ichetucknee Springs State Park
Come enjoy the crystal clear springs while we tube down
the cool river water, stopping half way for a picnic lunch on this day trip.
Ichetucknee Springs State Park is 2,241 acres of nature’s wonderland.
Also, every session Grand Oak Ranch will visit a Florida theme park. We are
conveniently located less than a 1 hour drive from most major theme parks in
Florida. Each session is a different park – so if you stay two or more sessions,
you will experience two or more different parks. Enjoy all the spectacular glory
of rides, shows and attractions offered in each trip. This summer we will visit
Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios, Busch Gardens, Aquatica, Sea World, &
Disney’s Animal Kingdom.
A second optional theme park trip will also be available each session. The
optional trip will be to either Wet n’ Wild, Wild Waters or Adventure Island –
all are water theme parks. This additional trip will cost $65.00 and is
completely optional. The fee covers transportation, admission, lunch & snacks at
the park. All of these parks offer a wide variety of excellent water activities.
WHAT TO EXPECT AT CAMP
EVERY DAY IS A FUN DAY AT GRAND OAK RANCH
THIS ISN'T YOUR ORDINARY SUMMER CAMP.

While most of our
field trips are filled with information about the world around us, they are also
loads of fun.
Each one (1) week session we will also visit one of Florida's numerous theme
parks.
Some of the other
places we may visit are Withlacoochee State Forest, Silver Lake Recreation Area,
Devil's
Millhopper Geological State Park, Ft. Desoto National Park, Silver Springs and
lots of others.
We will travel the
forest trails and you will discover that there is wildlife everywhere.
This area has Bald Eagles, several species of hawk,
deer, wild foxes, turkey, the endangered Gopher Tortoise and much, much more.
We might even hear a coyote off in the distance, as the moon shines overhead.
Grand Oak Ranch is
centrally located in Florida with most major theme parks and many,
many recreation areas, forests, national and state parks near us and all around.
And the beaches are within an hours ride.
If we have enough interested participants in a session, we may even have the option of camping out in a state forest or park.
COME JOIN THE FUN!!
At least three days a week are field trip days, rain or shine. We will explore the world around us and have loads of fun doing it, because everywhere we go there are educational as well as recreation activities planned.
We may go hiking in the forest and state parks, canoeing down the River, bicycling on Rails to Trails, tubing and snorkeling in Ichetucknee Springs. We may visit Payne’s Prairie State Preserve, with 20 distinct biological communities, 270 species of birds, and a rich array of other wildlife, including alligators, bison and wild horses. We may visit Devil’s Millhopper Geological State Park where we will descend a 120’ bowl shaped cavity to visit a miniature rain forest. Lots of other trips to choose from.
The possibilities are virtually endless and the choice is yours. Campers decide the trips that they take and the activities they participate in.

You can also choose to take part in the included theme park trip and a second optional theme park trip. Each session we will visit one of Florida’s theme parks. Each session is a different park. It could be Busch Gardens, Disney World, Universal Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Islands of Adventure, etc...We will also take an optional trip to a water park such as Wet n’ Wild, Adventure Island or Wild Waters.
In inclement weather, we could go play laser tag, go indoor rock climbing, ice skating, take a trip to the movies, or loads of other choices. Weather won’t stop the fun.
Daily swimming, arts & crafts, skit time & camp fire.
